A small green train links Kamakura to Enoshima along the sea, and a handful of passes decide whether it costs little or a lot. Here are the fares, the passes and who each one suits.

Facts first
The Enoshima Electric Railway, known as the Enoden, is a 10 km railway line connecting Fujisawa and Kamakura, with a tunnel, ocean views and views of Enoshima along the way.1 The Kamakura City Tourist Association calls it a sightseeing train that represents Kamakura and runs through the city and along the seaside.1
The scenery is the point. On a clear day Mt. Fuji can be seen from the train over Cape Koyurugi.8 Riders pay with Suica, PASMO or ICOCA cards, so there is no need to queue for a paper ticket at the small stations.1
It also solves a practical problem. The sights of the Hase area and Enoshima sit on this line, while the roads beside it are heavily congested, as the tourist association warns.9 If you only ride one local train in Kamakura, make it this one. Sit by a window on a sunny morning and keep your camera ready when the line comes out of the town and reaches the sea.

Prices from the Kamakura City Tourist Association and Odakyu; the Freepass from Shinjuku also includes a discounted round trip, and the Environment Bill covers only the Enoden between Kamakura and Hase.5,6,18,19,17,16
The Enoshima Electric Railway publishes sample journeys from Kamakura Station. To Hase Station takes 5 minutes and costs 200 yen for an adult, to Enoshima Station takes 23 minutes and costs 260 yen, and to Fujisawa Station takes 34 minutes and costs 310 yen.2,3,4
Which station you want depends on the sight. The nearest station to the Great Buddha and Hasedera is Hase, and for Enoshima and the Enoshima Aquarium it is Enoshima Station.14 The Great Buddha at Kotoku-in is a 7-minute walk from Hase, and Hasedera is a 5-minute walk.11,12
One small warning from the railway itself: there are no restroom facilities at Kamakura-koko-mae Station, so use a restroom elsewhere before arriving.15
Adult ticket prices
Noriorikun is the line's one-day pass, 800 yen for an adult and 400 yen for a child, with unlimited hop-on and hop-off access at any station between Kamakura and Fujisawa.5 It is sold at ticket vending machines at all stations, and it is valid only on the date of issue.10
The pass comes with perks. Holders get discounts at Enoshima Sea Candle, Enoshima Aquarium and Hasedera, and at more than 20 lodging facilities and restaurants.13 The railway adds that special benefits can be used once per pass holder, and that a pass cannot be refunded after travel starts.10
That makes it the right choice when your day starts and ends on the Enoden, because every extra hop is then free, for instance if you are staying in Kamakura or arriving by JR and want to hop between Hase and Enoshima. It does not include your trip from Tokyo, which is where the next pass comes in.

Three ways onto the Enoden
Odakyu sells the Enoshima-Kamakura Freepass from Shinjuku at 1,640 yen for adults and 430 yen for children, valid for one day.6 It bundles unlimited rides on local trains in the Enoshima-Kamakura area, round-trip discount tickets from Shinjuku, and discounts at temples, aquariums and local attractions.7
In detail, the Enoshima Kamakura free pass covers the Odakyu Line between Fujisawa and Katase-Enoshima plus the whole Enoden between Kamakura and Fujisawa, and comes with a discounted round-trip ticket from your departure station to Fujisawa.20 Starting from Fujisawa the pass is 810 yen for adults and 410 yen for children.18
Three details matter. The child price covers ages 6 to 11, the pass can be bought no more than one month before the date of use, and it can also be used from stations on the Seibu, Sotetsu and Tokyu Den-en-toshi lines.21,22,23 The Romancecar needs a separate ticket, 750 yen for an adult from Shinjuku to Katase-Enoshima.24
One day riding the line
Kamakura has more passes than most visitors need. The Shonan Monorail 1-day ticket costs 610 yen for adults and 310 yen for children and covers the line between Ofuna and Shonan-Enoshima.17 The Enoden Bus 1-day pass, Noritabikippu, is 600 yen for an adult ticket and 300 yen for a child ticket, and covers all Enoden Bus lines except the Haneda Airport line.16
The Kamakura Free Environment Bill costs 900 yen for adults and 450 yen for children and covers the Enoden between Kamakura and Hase plus five Keikyu and Enoden bus lines for one day.19 It is sold at Enoden Kamakura and Hase stations from 6:50 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.25
Most visitors never need all of them, and the ticket machines can look confusing at first, so decide before you reach the platform. Think of these as add-ons for the Enoden train Kamakura visitors use for the scenery. The bill makes sense if you mix buses with the Hase leg, the monorail only if you are heading to Enoshima via Ofuna, and the bus pass if you plan to ride several bus lines in a day.

Enoden is a 10km railway line connecting Fujisawa and Kamakura. Riders can enjoy unique scenery including a tunnel, ocean views, and views of Enoshima, among other things.
Checklist
Start from where you begin. If you leave from Shinjuku, the Freepass is the only one of these that also covers the ride out, so it wins on convenience.7 If you are already in Kamakura or Fujisawa, Noriorikun is the Enoden-only choice, and the Freepass from Fujisawa is a cheaper cousin.5,18
Then count your rides. A single hop from Kamakura to Enoshima costs 260 yen, a hop to Hase costs 200 yen, and a day pass at 800 yen only starts to pay off once you stack several legs on the same day.3,2,5 The discounts at the Sea Candle, the aquarium and Hasedera add value if you plan to enter them.13
Finally, check the bigger picture. Odakyu's three-day Hakone Kamakura Pass costs 8,520 yen, and a GetYourGuide listing sells a Hakone and Kamakura rail pass valid for 3 days from first activation, non-refundable.26 That belongs to a longer trip, not a Kamakura day.
